GEMS Church Inaugurated at Benipur of North Bihar

GEMS House of Prayer was inaugurated at Benipur (Darbhanga District) of Bihar. Most believers of this church are Musahars, a highly marginalized community (who were traditionally rat-eaters).


The inauguration of the GEMS church at Benipur (GEMS Maithili Zone) was conducted on 9th March 2017 and was attended by 300 people, believers of this church, guests, TBC Darbhanga students and missionaries.


Ps. Fradrick Gunaseelan and Bro. Prabhakaran from Rehoboth Ministries, Kanchipuram (Tamil Nadu) who supported the building of this church, along with their church leaders participated in the ceremony and inaugurated the church.


The inaugural ceremony began with prayer by Bro. Benjamin Norton (North Regional Director) and the congregation and gathering was led in a time of praise and worship by Bro. Ravi Raj (Dean, TBC Darbhanga) and TBC team. The guests were introduced and their contribution was appreciated and they were honoured in Maithili cultural tradition by Bro. K. Gunasekaran (Director, Hindi Churches Alliance).


Bro. Subash & family who serve as the missionary pastor of this church were prayed over by Bro. Manilal (Zonal Superintendent, Maithili Zone) and other leaders of Maithili zone. Along with the church, a tailoring unit for women empowermentand a tuition centre for children to learn English was also inaugurated at the church.



Pray for this newly inaugurated GEMS church at Benipur of North Bihar that it may continue to transform the whole place through the gospel and may spread the message of Jesus in and around through the testimony of the believers.

City Crusades Brings People to Christ in Bihar and Jharkhand

Gospel was preached to more than 700 people through the GEMS City Crusades at Bettiah (PEACE 3 zone) and Jamshedpur (Vananchal Zone).


Bettiah
The city crusade at Bettiah of North Bihar was conducted from 24th to 26th Feb 2017 through which more than 700 people heard the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Bro. MJ Mathews (North West Regional Director) organized the meetings.


Sis. Jeyavathana (El Shadday Ministries) preached the gospel message on all the three evenings. 150 people newly attended the meetings.


Jamshedpur
The Jamshedpur (Jharkhand) city crusade was conducted on 26th & 27th Feb 2017 and 220 people attended the meetings. Bro. Jennifer Rajamohan (Asst. Zonal Leader, Vananchal Zone) organized the meeting.


Bro. Paul Bance (GEMS Training Coordinator) preached the word of God and encouraged the people to know the true living God. He also exhorted the believers to partake in God’s kingdom works.



Pray for all the people who attended the City Crusades at Bettiah and Jamshedpur to commit their lives to Christ and to be discipled to become transformed individuals and families. Pray for the believers to be witnesses.

Training Prepares People to Lead Children to Christ thru VBS

GEMS Children’s ministry department conducted VBS Directors’ Training program through which 250 people were trained to train others and conduct VBS this year.


The GEMS VBS Directors’ Training program was conducted at GEMS Auditorium in Bihar from 1st to 3rdMarch 2017. The VBS ministries wing of the Children Department (CD) conducted this training in this year’s VBS theme ‘Fountain of Life’ in which 243 from GEMS ministries and 7 from other mission organizations participated. Sis. Juliet Anand (VBS Coordinator) introduced the theme.


The program began with praise and worship led by Bro. Yenar Singh (Coordinator, CD). In the opening session Sis. Rupalekha Jebakumar (Managing Trustee) shared her testimony and her experience of ministering among children and motivated the gathering.


Bro. Jeyan Varghese and Sis. Molly Jeyan (CEF Director, Mumbai) and Bro. Timothy (CEC Chennai) were invited as resource people.  Bro. Jayan handled the following topics:  Christian Teacher, Duties of a VBS Director, Understanding Today’s Children, Bible Lesson Preparation, Wordless book teaching, Stewardship, Child Psychology and Managing your class. His sessions helped the participants to know more about children ministry.


Bro. Timothy taught many games and activities to be conducted during VBS and he also briefed the following topics: How to lead a child to Christ, Communication, Puppet & Magic Workshop and Object lesson. His sessions enabled the participants to know more on how to make the VBS more colourful and how to conduct VBS opposition is faced.


The morning devotions were led by Bro. K. Gunasekaran (Director, Hi-CHAL) and Bro. T. Emerson (Associate Director-CP). The devotions revived the spiritual life of the participants.


VBS songs were taught to the participants by the CD staff; Sis. Jenova and Sis. Sujitha helped in teaching action songs and Bro. Nobel Freddy helped with music. Craft works were taught to the participants by Bro. Bhagwan Das and skits were also performed by the CD staff on the theme and suggestions were given to the participants to conduct skits in their VBS also. Towards the end of each day the participants were led in prayer by Bro. Sachin and Bro. Ashok Pal.


The training came to an end with the closing session by Bro. D. Augustine Jebakumar (General Secretary). He motivated the participants by sharing his early ministerial experience and how the children he met during children ministry impacted his spiritual and ministerial life. His thoughts enlightened all the participants and everyone dedicated themselves to conduct VBS 2017 effectively in their areas.



Pray for all the participants of this year’s VBS Directors’ Training that they may prayerfully and effectively conduct and train others to conduct VBS for children. Pray that their efforts may result in children flocking to the Fountain of Life, Jesus Christ and may witness Him among their family and friends.

GEMS Church Inaugurated at Tekari of Gaya District in Bihar

GEMS House of Prayer of Magahi 2 Zone was inaugurated for the glory of God at Tekari, Bihar.


The inauguration of the GEMS church at Tekari took place on 25th Feb 2017 and it began with prayer by Bro. Victor Immanuel (Regional Director, East Region). Bro. T. Emerson (Associate Director-Church Planting) led the people in worship and Dr. Ashok Kumar (Executive Director) with prayer inaugurated the church building.


After the inauguration everyone entered the church and the service began with prayer by Bro. Rakesh Ravi (Asst. Zonal Leader, Magahi 2 Zone) and Bro. Paul Sundar (Zonal Superintendent, Magahi 2 Zone) led the congregation in a time of praise and worship.


Bro. Victor Immanuel welcomed the congregation and all the guests and Bro. Emerson shared words of encouragement. Bro. Ramashankar (Area Leader) who serves as the missionary pastor of this church shared about the Tekari field and its ministries.


Dr. Ashok exhorted the congregation from the Bible and showed how the church is a place to learn God’s truths and His ways to walk in them (Isaiah 2:3) and is a place of prayer which brings joy to the believers (Isaiah 56:7). The inauguration service came to a close with prayer by Bro. B.N. Singh (NET Coordinator).



Pray for this GEMS church at Tekari to be a powerful witness of God’s word and works. Pray for the missionary family and the believers to be effective witnesses to His name and the gospel; that this church may bring the whole community towards wholesome transformation.

Gospel and God’s Word Preached in GEMS PEACE Convention and Crusade

GEMS PEACE 2 Zone conducted crusade at Ara and Sandesh and convention at Basantpur through which 825 people of Bihar were touched with the gospel.


Basantpur Convention
The Area Convention at GEMS church, Basantpur of Bihar was conducted from 26th to 28th Feb 2017 in which 225 believers attended. Area Leader Bro. Gyanchand Prasad organized the meeting. The meeting began with prayer by Zonal Superintendent Bro. R.P. Timothy and Asst. Zonal Leader Bro. Kanhaiya Lal led the gathering in praise and worship.


Bro. R.P. Timothy introduced the theme ‘Strong and Fruitful’ and exhorted from the theme verse Psalm 105:24. Bro. J.K. Peter shared the messages on the theme and encouraged the believers to be equipped with the armour of God.


Sandesh Crusade
Gospel was preached through a mini crusade conducted at Maniyach, Sandesh from 16th to 18th Feb 2017 through which 250 people got the opportunity to hear the good news of Jesus Christ.


Area Leader Bro. Chattu Kumar made the arrangements. GEMS Bihiya church pastor Bro. N.P. Phillipus led the congregation in praise and worship. Bro. Timothy shared the gospel on all the evenings. 50 people answered the altar call to accept Jesus as their Saviour. After this crusade prayer has been started at this place. Praise be to God!


Ara Crusade
City Crusade was conducted at Ara from 9thto 11th Feb 2017 through which the gospel was preached to 350 people. Asst. Zonal Leader Bro. Kanhaiya Lal made all the arrangements who also led the people in praise and worship along with Bro. Phillipus.


Bro. JK Peter (Area Leader, B2 Zone) shared the good news messages to the people every evening. 50 people committed their life to Jesus during the altar call.


Pray for all the people who heard the gospel through the PEACE 2 crusades conducted at Sandesh and Ara that they may commit their life to Christ; pray for the committed people to grow as disciples of Christ. Pray for the believers who attended the convention at Basantpur to become strong in the Lord and to lead fruitful lives for God’s kingdom.

GEMS Missionaries Threatened and Persecuted in Bihar

GEMS missionaries at Lalganj (Bhojpuri 3 zone) and at Aurangabad (Magahi 2 zone) are being continuously threatened by anti-secular forces to not preach the gospel & to stop conducting prayers.


M2 Persecution     
GEMS is serving at Aurangabad, Bihar for more than 30 years. Bro. Jinu Raj is presently ministering as the missionary pastor in this place since April 2016, as a family. Since 19th Feb 2017 twice he has been threatened to not preach the gospel and to not hold church service and prayers at his rented house.


A group of people reached his rented place in the evening of 19th Feb (Sunday) and threatened him to not conduct prayers at his house. On 26th Feb (Sunday) while the service was going on a bigger group came and called the pastor down and once again warned him to not hold prayers.

There are nearly 120 believers worshipping the Lord at Aurangabad. The house owner has asked the missionary to either vacate the house or to stop the prayers.



B3 Persecution
Bro. Ravi Bushan is serving as the missionary pastor at GEMS church in Lalganj (Vaishali district).


On 1st March he was threatened over phone that he would be killed if he does not stop preaching about Jesus. The believers in the village had also mentioned that a group of people are seeking to kill him.


Rajesh Tiwari, Umesh Singh, Chandan Singh, Bittu Singh and others have threatened him with dire consequences. They have also told him to lock down the church and to not conduct prayers in the church. They also damaged the church roofing. They threatened him a year back too and when Bro. Ravi approached the local police station, his appeal was not heeded.



Pray for the protection of the missionaries at Aurangabad and Lalganj. Pray for the persecutors to know the Lord, the Truth and be delivered from all evil ways. Pray for the believers to be steadfast in the Lord.

GEMS School of Nursing Felicitates Graduates and Welcomes Freshers

The 11th graduation and 13thlamp lighting ceremony of GEMS School of Nursing was held in which 22 students graduated and 26 students were initiated.


GEMS School of Nursing (GSON) conducted the graduation and welcoming ceremony for its ANM (Auxiliary Nursing Midwifery) students on 23rd Feb 2017 at GEMS Auditorium, Sikaria. Since 2004, 281 students have been trained at GSON and are spread out in remote places to render effective and compassionate healthcare filled with the spirit of Christ.


The families of the students and graduates, leaders of various departments of GEMS, families and Home children from the campus, visitors from the SEED group attended the function. Mr. C. Siva Kumar (CEO of BRBCL, NTPC at Nabinagar) was the Chief Guest and the General Secretary of GEMS Bro. D. Augustine Jebakumar presided over the program.

The ceremony began with a procession into the auditorium with GSON office bearers along with students carrying the garland. Mrs. Rupalekha Jebakumar (Managing Trustee, GEMS) led the opening prayer following which the Principal of GSON Mrs. Packiyarani Stephen welcomed the gathering.


The Chief Guest Mr. Sivakumar gave an inspiring address and encouraged the graduates to serve the patients without any caste, creed or religious discrimination and quoted Jesus Christ as an example for such service. The Executive Director Dr. Ashok Kumar exhorted the students to be confident, competent and to develop effective communication and godly values.

22 graduates received their provisional certificates. Top scorers of the final board examinations in the first and second year were awarded medals and certificates. Mr. Sivakumar bestowed the medals and certificates were given away by Mr. Anand Kumar (Associate Director), Dr. Stanly Gladson Daniel (GEMS Medical Superintendent) and Mr. Navneet Kumar (Deputy General Manager, NTPC).


Ms. Reshma Kumari was awarded for securing overall third rank among all school of nursing in MID India Board of Education in her final year examination. Ms. Kumari Swetha secured fifth rank in her first year board examination. Special awards, prizes and medals were given by Bro. D. Augustine Jebakumar and Mrs. Rupalekha.


Lamp lighting began with the lighting of the centre lamps by Bro. D. Augustine Jebakumar, Dr. Ashok and Dr. Stanly. The students’ lamps were lit by Dr. Stanly and Mrs. Packiyarani as the choir sang “It Only Takes a Spark to Let the Fire Going”. The 26 students who dedicated themselves to the nursing profession were then led by Mrs. Vimala Subburaj (Tutor, GSON) in the Nightingales Pledge. This was followed by the dedicational hymn “I Surrender All” sung by the freshers and graduates in Hindi. The song inspired them to dedicate themselves to the Lord.


Ms. Jercy (Tutor, GSON) gave the vote of thanks. The ceremony came to an end with dedication prayer and benediction by Bro. Augustine Jebakumar.



Pray for the all the graduated nurses of GSON to serve with selfless attitude and service-mindedness. Pray for the freshers to commit themselves to focused training and learning. Pray for the institute, the staff and management to continue to train and develop nurses efficiently.

GEMS Meeting Exhorts Youths of North Bihar to Live Like Joseph

GEMS North West Region conducted a youth meeting at Bettiah through which 130 youths were encouraged in the Lord.


The youth meeting at Bettiah was conducted at the GEMS Church, Bettiah on 26th Feb 2017. The meeting was organized by Bro. MJ Mathews (North West Regional Director). Sis. Jeyavathana (El Shadday Ministries) shared message from the life of Joseph of the Bible and encouraged the youths to live a life of purity and piety for God’s purpose to be fulfilled through them. All the participants committed in prayer to lead a consecrated life in Christ.



Pray for all the teens and youths who participated in the youth meeting at Bettiah to live a consecrated life and through that to witness Christ. Pray for them to continue to grow in the Lord to understand His purpose for their life.
