GEMS Workers Prepare to Enter the New Year Anticipating an Overflowing Life

The Annual Workers Fasting Prayer of GEMS was conducted in the theme ‘Overflowing Life’ in which all the workers of GEMS from Bihar, Jharkhand, U.P., M.P., Maharashtra, Nepal & from various promotional centres participated.

The annual fasting prayer began with the introductory session by the General Secretary of GEMS Bro. D. Augustine Jebakumar in which he exhorted on the theme from John 7:37,38 and encouraged the missionaries to not be satisfied with the past achievements. He introduced the questionnaire for group discussion which was based on the life of king Saul ‘Symptoms of a Rejected Leader’ for introspection.
Everyone discussed using the questionnaire in groups and introspected and prayed for each other.

The Questionnaire for self-introspection can be downloaded and used for personal / family or church or fellowship.

The Executive Director of GEMS Dr. Ashok introduced the guest speakers Bro. Rampert Ratnaiya & Sis. Meghala Ratnaiya. They served with RZIM-India and then led the Navodiya team of FMPB before starting the TV programs ‘Kingdom People’ and ‘Avar Namam Yesu’. Bro. Rampert shared the messages on the topics of ‘We die, so that we may live’ (Matt 10:38,39) and ‘To become a fool to become wise’ (World’s perspective Vs. God’s perspective) and ‘When I am weak then I am strong’ (Insufficiency of our strength and the all sufficiency of God’s strength). Bro. Paul Bance and Bro. Mariyosh helped with the translation. Bro. Arjun Karmali, Bro. Prabhakaran and Bro. Bell Shath led the people in songs and praise & worship along with the choir and music team led by Bro. Noble.

Bro. Augustine Jebakumar shared the devotional messages from the life and ministry of Elijah and Elisha. He presented how the challenges for Elisha were greater than Elijah which required double portion of anointing. With the examples of Peter, John & Ananias (Acts 2-4,9) he showed how challenges open ways for a fruitful and fulfilled overflowing life. Then he showed from the life of Elisha how increased anointing is needed to serve as the chosen vessel of God and to serve amidst this and the next generation (2 Kings 2:15-23). He went on to show how such anointing helps to see the unseen. Bro. Babu Rajarehan helped with translation.

Click to download the messages shared by Bro. Augustine Jebakumar -

He encouraged everyone to see in others not what they don’t have but what they have and to help them increase (2 Kings 4). He also encouraged to tune their senses to hear God and to listen to His voice, so that they may become a blessing to the nation (2 Kings 7).

Dr. Ashok shared on the barriers to receive the fullness of the Holy Spirit – Prefilled vessel (Matt 28:25), Disconnected / Disorganized vessel (Jer 2:13), Deadly elements in a vessel (2 Kings 4:38-41) and encouraged with the example of Stephen’s life from Acts 7:60 where the Bible talks about the fullness of love in his life.

Sis. Meghala began her session with exhortation from Psalm 84 and showed how God uses our brokenness to mould & use us and that problems help us to see God for who He is and to see who we are and how trust and obedience goes hand-in-hand. In another session she shared how God uses F.A.T. people – Faithful (Heb 8:5), Available (Is 6:8) and Teachable (Acts 9:6). She exhorted the participants to be faithful in the calling, faithful to the revelations given by God, faithful to pass on the work to faithful people and to finish well. Sis. Priscilla Nehemiah helped with the translation. She also sang songs before the sessions which greatly encouraged the participants.

Dr. Rajesh Duthie (Associate Director, KBM) shared about the Kingdom Building Ministries (KBM) of GEMS and encouraged the workers to pray. Bro. K. Gunasekaran, Director of Hi-ChAl shared about the functions of Hindi Churches Alliance, Bro. Suresh shared about MHS (Missionaries Health Services) and Bro. Peter Jayaraj shared about PROFIT (PROfessionals Fellowship of International Talents).

The girls who studied at the Deborah Bible Training Centre (DBTC) were felicitated at the ceremony during the fasting prayer led by Sis. Chitra Krishnamoorthy (DBTC Incharge) and certificates were given by Sis. Rupalekha Jebakumar (Managing Trustee). The Associate Directors and Regional Directors prayed for the girls.

An audio CD of Hindi songs from the GEMS song book ‘Aazadi Ki Geeth’ produced by GEMS media team was released by Bro. Jeyasingh David (Secretary, DCLM) and the guest speakers received complimentary copies.

Many committed during the praying sessions and the fasting prayer closed with communion and went to their respective fields looking forward to an overflowing life and ministry according to Psalm 23:5. Pray for all the workers of GEMS that they may continue to live a consecrated and committed life fulfilling God’s purpose in building His kingdom that the nations may come to His light.
